5 Tips to Develop Resilience During Uncertain Times – book here (delivered by our London Campus)

Wednesday 16th June at 14:00

Even before the pandemic there was already a certain amount of pressure on young people, which called for them to have a level of resilience, from academic expectations, to mental health and peer pressure. These challenges have all been made even more complex with the current reality we’re living in that has seen unpredictable changes to previously reliable processes and expectations.

In this virtual workshop we will be looking at 5 practical tips that students can take away and apply today to feel more confident about their current situation and future prospects. We will explore how to develop resilience during uncertain times. The key message we hope to share is that resilience is not the absence of difficulty but rather the ability to adapt and grow through and following adversity.

Esports: Sim Racing – How does F1 keep racing online fair? – book here (delivered by our London Campus)

Wednesday 26th May at 13:00

Sim racing has grown year on year in the esports world, from being a small niche hobby for very dedicated simracers, to today where every racing league is trying to entice new fans with their virtual offering! With all this online racing comes online corner cutting, crashing and strong words in the pit-lane; but how do racing leagues keep things fair? With public lobbies, first-time players and even sometimes aggrieved real world racers on the track in this virtual masterclass, we will look at the methods and technology that top racing leagues deploy and the problems or advantages that online racing brings.

You should’ve received an email from me about this a couple of weeks ago.  This is usually done as a residential so not usually much interest to local students, but as this year it is being run as 2 consecutive day visits in line with covid restrictions, it’s much more suited to local students.  Applications can be made here. The application deadline is Friday 28th May.

Designed to raise aspirations and inspire students to continue in education, UniLife is for year 12 or level 3 students that could excel at university but aren’t yet sure it’s for them.

Students will get the chance to immerse themselves in university life. Our UniLife programme covers academic tasters, study skills and social activities. Students will get the opportunity to meet new people and experience life on campus. This event is free to attend, and all food, transport and activities are included.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the traditional UniLife programme has been adapted to ensure we comply with the latest government guidelines. As a result of this, the residential element of the programme will be removed and will now be offered as two consecutive day visits. The programme will only be offered to students within the local area and the programme capacity will be reduced this year. In order to offer this opportunity to as many students as possible we will be offering two programmes;

UniLife A- 22nd & 23rd June

UniLife B- 7th & 8th July

(students will be offered a programme date depending on their subject interests)

In the next few days I will be posting a wide range of careers information, which I hope you find useful. If you have any further queries regarding Careers Information, please do contact me – a.stokes@walton.staffs.sch.uk – and I will endeavour to help.

Many thanks
